The high school students in a rural area like Tonopah, AZ are not prepared to enter the work force.  They lack a proper education, mentorship and opportunities to succeed.

The residents of Tonopah have a few limiting factors - the primary being transportation.  We are so far removed from community services, such as social services, grocery stores, drug stores, clothing, medical or dental services and all those necessities that people take for granted in a suburban community.  The closest community college is approx. 40 miles away - the closed DMV is approx. 48 miles away!

Tonopah has few employment opportunities for our high school students to obtain a part time job.  Many do not have their driver's permit or license.  Work opportunities are severely limited to a local restaurant or a small community convenience store, both of which require either a food handler's card or being over the age of 19.

For those that do graduate from high school, have to compete for jobs within individuals that are much better prepared and may have had work experiences.
